The "Master To-Do" List

So... our list of projects. It will for sure change and grow and a few things we might decide to wait on or nix all together, but as we start checking things off the list I plan to document as much as I can. I know it's fun for our friends and family to follow the progress but I hope to keep this blog as a living document of the life of our home, for us to look back on and remember how fun it was to remodel a house together! (That may or may not have been sarcasm... let's see how the next couple of months go)

I'm sure that we will forever be working on and improving our house and our property but I also think that this may have the potential to become a blog about so many other things... like dealing with redneck neighbors, growing our first real garden, raising chickens, and goats and maybe a mini donkey (the more I think about having a mini donkey, the more I am realizing that I don't think I have the power to escape the cuteness)... and then maybe one day it will document our first baby together... I don't know, I think that "Chasing Foxtails" is too presh of a title to abandon once this initial rehab project is finished!

So ANYWAY, back the list. Here it is, in all it's glory. I'm sure it will be the source of many frustrations and fights but still, I am very excited because I know that when we complete it we will be very proud and I just can't wait!

(Btw, these projects aren't really in any particular order)

  • Not so much a project but we need to get a surveyor to come and mark our property lines
  • Fence in a portion of the property from the back of the shop to our front gate (so that our dogs can run free) this also includes putting in two new gates to access the back and side (pasture) of the property
  • Lay rock in the front of the house (it's already very muddy out there!)
  • Paint the interior walls (before the floor is installed)
  • Paint the exterior, walls, window/door trim
  • New front door, exterior painted red!
  • Install new kitchen appliances. the new dishwasher will also require some reworking of the existing cabinets and we are not exactly sure how we are going to go about that yet
  • Clean and possibly repaint the existing oven hood to a "cleaner" white color
  • Kitchen cabinets: degrease, paint, install new hardware and any damaged hinges and drawers
  • Install new countertops
  • Install new kitchen sink and faucet
  • Tile kitchen backsplash
  • Install oven shelving where we remove the corner cabinet in kitchen
  • Install new pedestal sink in bathroom
  • Move existing toilet and bathtub waste pipe rough-ins
  • Install new toilet
  • Frame a wall for new drop-in bathtub, install bathtub.
  • Tile bathtub including tub front and walls
  • Tile bathroom floors
  • New doors for both bedrooms and bathroom
  • Replace all electrical outlets and switches with new, white covers
